The tasty treats add a real twist by using healthy wholemeal Pitta breads rather than high fat pastry. Quick and easy to make they taste delicious eaten hot or cold and a especially good with custard. A healthy & delicious dessert for the whole family.
4 Wholemeal Pitta Bread Pockets
2 Large Cooking Apples
2-4 Tablespoons Granulated Sweetener
1 Teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
Fry Light Cooking Spray
Granulated Sweetener for Dusting
Peel & core the apples and chop in small pieces, place in a pan with the water, cinnamon and 2-4 tablespoons Sweetener (according to preferred sweetness). Bring to the boil then simmer to soften apples and the water has formed into a thick sauce. Allow filling to cool completely.
Once the filling has cooled, pop the pittas into a toaster for a few seconds so they start to puff up. Gently make a small incision in the top edge then fill with Apple mix. Spray the Pitta breads on both side and sprinkle with Sweetener and cinnamon. Cook in a pre-heated oven 190 for approx 6 minutes until starting to crisp. Enjoy.
